NARU NARUSEGAWA'S FRIENDS In this section, you'll see how the characters in the series know and interact with Narusegawa. The characters are in alphabetical order, after Keitaro since he takes top priority after Naru. :] (Most screenshots are from the LHA series because I prefer the animation style in those.)

KEITARO URASHIMA is Naru's main love interest. Though she continues to deny it throughout the entire series, it is obvious that she is very much in love with him. With Naru and Keitaro, I regard it with the mentality of a child having a crush on another kid... if you like 'em, you beat them up. :] However, on occasion, you'll see Naru show tender feelings towards Keitaro, though it's such a rarity to see. Keitaro will flare up with jealousy from time to time, but in the end, (since he has such a good heart), he tries to do only what will make Naru happy.

HARUKA AND KENTARO are hilarious together. XD Haruka is Keitaro's aunt and somebody who is practically neutral to all the members of Hinatasou. She cares for them all, but she usually doesn't butt into their business... one of my favorite characters, definitely. :] As for Kentaro, he's a character introduced in the earlier episodes; he tries to take Naru away from Keitaro, but (as you know), she loves Keitaro and only wants to be with him. You don't see him that often, but he makes reappearances in the latter episodes and proves to be quite funny. :] He also tries to help out Keitaro and Naru whenever he can... a great friend to both.

KANAKO URASHIMA is Naru's biggest rival in terms of the relationship between Keitaro and Naru. Kanako is Keitaro's younger sister, (though not related by blood), and decides to come back to win over Keitaro's heart. It's a bit hard to do, however, when Naru is in the way, ne? Kanako's feelings for Keitaro are too overpowering for her to just let Naru have him. She's really evil at first, but towards the end, she actually starts to do things for Keitaro & Naru, instead of trying to sabotage their relationship for her own needs.

KAOLLA SU and Naru hardly have any interaction between each other. Kaolla doesn't really play much of an integral part in anything concerning Keitaro and Naru, though she does shoot Keitaro in episode 1 when Kitsune and Naru have branded him as an underwear thief and pervert, lol. They also sort of all 'sleep together' once, but uh... :P Kaolla also ends up having a crush on Keitaro during his stay at Hinatasou.

MEI NARUSEGAWA is Naru's younger half-sister and also plays a very minor role in the series. At first, she comes to Hinatasou to get Naru to come back home, but after a while, she realizes that she's wrong and eventually goes back. She's there for Naru when she's having mixed feelings about Keitaro as well (around Christmas time), and that's about it... a pretty normal sibling relationship.

MITSUNE KONNO is the sake-drinking, fun-loving, best friend of Naru. She likes to stir up trouble whenever possible but in the funniest ways! :D She's always looking out for Naru, though she may choose the method with the most 'exciting' results. As for her personality, she's usually reserved about her feelings, and she rarely shares them with people, but through all that sake, she's got a heart of gold. If it weren't for Naru, Kitsune would probably be my favorite female character... and why not? She's absolutely kickass!

MOTOKO AOYAMA is a good friend of Naru's and is always looking out for her. As you know, she's a swordmaster and can basically beat anyone up (like she did so many times to Keitaro, haha). Although she and Naru don't necessarily talk to each other all that much one-on-one, throughout the series, she does things to show that she definitely cares for Naru.

MUTSUMI OTOHIME, for many of the earlier episodes, is Naru's biggest rival. When she enters the scene, Naru gets worried because she and Keitaro seem to be so much alike. Later on, Naru (and Keitaro) both think that Mutsumi is the promised girl, which confuses Keitaro as to what he should do. Mutsumi is Keitaro's first kiss and is usually willing to do anything for him. :] And though she doesn't seem to do it anymore, in the beginning, she's a hardcore narcoleptic, which is why she failed the Tokyo U entrance exam so much – because she fell asleep and didn't write her name on the test or something, lol. Anyway, she finally admits that she isn't the promised girl.

SARA MACDOUGAL has virtually no relationship to Naru, except for the fact that she's the daughter of Seta Noriyasu. (Well, technically, he's just her guardian, but he's like a father, so I just refer to her as Seta's daughter.) She ends up living at Hinatasou and helps around the house (and stirs up trouble), but her main group of friends consists of Kaolla and Shinobu. Overall, she's a funny character, though she starts off a bit annoying. But yes, she grows on you.

SETA NORIYASU is the professor that Naru used to have feelings for when she was younger. She thought she was in love with him, and in the series, this ends up causing lots of heartache for poor Keitaro, since he didn't even know till later that Naru didn't have feelings for Seta anymore. Naru feels like Seta is her first love, until of course, she realizes what true love is with Keitaro.

SHINOBU MAEHARA and Naru aren't really that close since Shinobu's so much younger, but I think Shinobu feels a bit of envy when it comes to Naru's relationship with Keitaro. You can tell early on that Shinobu develops feelings for Keitaro, but since she's only a junior high student, she could never even hope to be with him. Nevertheless, though she has these feelings, she still tries to help Naru and Keitaro actually progress in their relationship together.
